1928: Founded

Hoekstra Truck Equipment is founded in Grand Rapids, MI by John F. Hoekstra.

1940s–1970s: Expanded

Expands product offerings, becoming a Superior Bus dealer, entering the school bus industry, becoming a StarTrans dealer and entering the shuttle bus industry.

1980: Added More Buses

Became a Thomas Built Buses dealer, representing the west side of Michigan, and purchased another dealership representing the east side to become Michigan’s sole TBB dealer.

1999: New Division

Hoekstra Transportation is formed as a subsidiary of Hoekstra Truck Equipment. Hoekstra Transportation includes school bus and shuttle bus sales, service and parts.

2018: Acquired MTS

Acquires Mobility Transportation Services, expanding the shuttle bus product offerings further and becoming a MobilityTRANS, BraunAbility and Revability by VMI dealer.

2020: Acquired B&B

Acquires B&B Truck Equipment in Byron Center.

2023: Van Center

Opening of Mercedes-Benz Van Center – Grand Rapids.

2024: Merged

Acquires a majority stake in The Bus Center and merges Hoekstra Transportation into the brand.

Today: Unified

Unified corporate brand serving transportation and equipment markets.
